My two year old daughter is in love with the many games my four year old has and plays with. Problem is, many of them have small pieces, and my two year old isn't past the mouthing stage, so we either have to really carefully supervise, or put them away. The latter greatly offends her sensibilities.
I was hesitant to purchase this game because it looked... well boring. But I found it intriguing all the same- the idea of a game that is made for toddlers. Specifically, a game that is simple in its rules, and has large enough pieces to not pose a risk. I took a chance, having read so many glowing reviews. In hindsight, I might have just stuck with my intuition.
The pieces to this game are quite nice. They all have that fantastic silky-smooth Haba finish, are brightly-colored, and they're much larger than most of the teeny tiny wooden Haba toys we own. The rings measure, from smallest to largest: 1.8", 2.25", 2.5" diameter. The people are 2.7" tall and .8" diameter, and the dice is a 1.25" cube - much larger than a standard die.
The downside is that the gameplay options (there are 3) included in the instructions are boring, boring, boring. Not for me, mind you; I might well have expected that, but for my two-year old. We've tried all three at various times and only end up with her walking away, baffled at how so much die-rolling can result in so little action.
Allow me to pare them down to their essentials for the purposes of demonstration.
Game 1: Place all people and rings in the center of the table. Each player rolls the die and places a corresponding ring on the people. If all rings of that color are used up, roll again. Game is over when all the rings have been distributed. The game suggests you can then offer a reward of dancing in a circle, but my toddler recommends, instead, running away and refusing to have any more of this nonsense.
Game 2: Select a person. Roll the die to try to get the same color as the person you have chosen. Didn't get the right color? Pity! You cannot take a ring! (Yes, I'm quoting there). Pity, indeed says my toddler. After 5 rounds where neither of us rolled our correct color, she said, "Pity! This game is over, mom!" (I'm paraphrasing there.)
Game 3: Choose a person, stack five rings of various colors on the person. Each player rolls the dice until the color on the die matches the top ring, remove the ring, and so on. Of course, we didn't even get to die-rolling on this one, because the idea of rings of various colors stacked on a person with a different color hat was (hello!) one of those things that offends a rigid, rule-driven, tantrum-prone toddler's sensibilities. "No! No! No!" she howled, and quickly removed and reassembled the rings in their correct size and color order with the correct people.
Now, I'm not necessarily precluding the idea that a game could, with a little thought, be conjured, effectively using these cool game pieces in a way which might allow a faster-paced, fun game. After a failed attempt on each of the prescribed games, I began brainstorming, and have come up with a few alternative methods where participation would be virtually guaranteed on each roll of the die, foregoing the whole, "Pity! All you got to do this turn was roll the die!" structure that annoyingly pervades all playing options which came with the game.
However, I feel it's only fair to base the rating of the game on the merit of what it provides pre-improvisation, and not on its possible potential beyond what presented in the immediate sense. And so, while the individual pieces of the game have provided some mild amusement in a roleplay/imagination form, I feel the game playing end is sorely lacking, and not well thought out for the age group for which its intended. Also, it's really quite expensive and I say that having gotten it at 20% off. I understand the whole German wooden safe toy correlation, but I was hoping more for a game, and less for a few pricey, aesthetically pleasing wooden pieces.
A better game, in my opinion, is Haba's Zitternix, which my two year old is surprising capable of joining in on and enjoying, and which allows for a guaranteed corresponding action for each roll of the die, keeping things a bit more exciting. I think continual active participation in a game is key for maintaining interest at this age.

I bought this for my son's first birthday.I was looking for a stuffed animal that he could "bond" with that didn't have any removable eyes or choking hazards since he puts EVERYTHING into his mouth.This dog is so cute and really soft and huggable.My son is now 18 months old and sleeps with it every night.I watch him in the video baby monitor snuggling with it until he falls asleep.It's soooo sweet.
This is an extremely durable tea set.My daughter loves this set and the colors and build are of top quality.There is one error I believe in the creation of one of the tea cups as there is extra plastic near the bottom of the tea handle on one of the cups, but it's no big deal.I can't say enough about the quality of the product!
My son loved this ped board! Since it comes with pegs at different lengths he was forced to use different hand grips to get them in the slot.We used once everyday and after 2-3 weeks I saw him go from a palmer grasp to a pincer with the smaller pieces.It sounds like a lot of work and not too much fun, but my son would get the box and bring it to me so that he would sit and play with me.Everytime he finished putting all the pegs in he would clap at his own accomplishment.I would recommend this product to any parent.
Love this doll! It's a good size for my 2-year-old. Got it because I wanted to teach her about dressing and undressing. After looking at many dress-me dolls--so many bad ones!--Haba's line seemed by far the best in many ways (quality, cuteness, size, clothing design). I don't regret my choice! My daughter really enjoys Lilli. She doesn't seem that interested in dressing her yet, but she plays with her every day. Very sweet.
We bought this toy for our twins for Christmas and they LOVE it!The colorful circles spin as the clown is pulled and they can also be removed so the kids can chew them or roll them around.Besides being a beautiful toy that will grow with our children, it is exceptionally well made.The paint doesnt come off, the pieces are well joined and the pull string is thick and sturdy.my girls are 10 months and they already know how to pull it while crawling (of course the string is tied shorter for safety)I have other HABA toys and they are simply a wonderful toy company!
This is a wonderful walker for very young children as it is heavy enough so the child won't fall down. On the other hand it is difficult to tun, but my daughter doesn't seem to care (almost 11 MO old). She stops and turn it while seating. She loves to bang it on the door (very noisy). The wheels are very silent on the floor. She likes when a cat (or a friend or a stuff animal) seats on it. She puts many things in it (blocks, duplo, ... and goes around). The great thing that I have noticed is that with this walker (contrarily to the plastics one of the playgroups) she stands up straight when she walks. I think she feels secure and she knows that it won't flip over.
With no blinking lights, bells or whistles, this simple toy will captivate a toddler's inherent fascination with "in" and "out," and will offer him or her a true learning experience with properties of shapes, height, and color. This is a quiet toy that develops concentration and focus, as well as fine motor and sorting skills. My son really took interest in it around 20 months. The substantial size and outstanding quality of this HABA toy make it worth the price.
I bought this book for my twin grandchildren (now 9 months old). The four pages for photos were just right for mommy, daddy, and one for each baby. Of course, the book goes in their mouths first. They do turn the pages and look at the photos. I think that they will discover how to remove the photos from under the plastic page soon.
These beads are an excellent way to hone your toddler's fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination. We have the car set, as well as the laundry set, which is great for generating conversations with your little one about dressing routines and appropriate dressing for the weather. We often hang the laundry out to dry and drive the cars around, so the beads definitely get used for pretending, too. Each set comes with a wooden "needle" to grade the challenge if your little one finds it too difficult to thread the beads onto the string. They also come with a zip-up case, making them convenient to store and carry along in the diaper bag. With parent supervision, I would recommend introducing these beads at 2 years or even a few months before. An overall excellent toy for developing fine motor skills, attention, and focus.
I purchased the Haba Junior Peg Board at the same time for [...]. I was surprised when they both arrived and were pretty much the same size. The Junior Peg Board was listed for ages 1 1/2 at the time I purchased it, but I still don't let my just turned two year old child play with it unsupervised. It has since been changed to 2 1/2. 
I bought Two of these both children loved them fun to pull rope and play with blocks andof course chew on the blocks.
We bought this for our 7 month old and he enjoyed playing with it, but it is not well made.The stitching attaching the car to the ball came apart after only a week.The car was almost falling off of the ball and could have easily come off and he could have choked on it.
My son loved watching this, listening to the music, and stuffing the little removable guy in his mouth when I let him.Good distraction over the diaper station. Only note - It was kind of interesting to hang.My father-in-law used a long metal rod with bended ends to affix this into the ceiling but also provide enough strength to pull the music box string at the bottom.
My son loves the sounds it makes when he pulls it along (it's hysterical watching him!)There is a bell that jingles and the wheels make a slight noise, that just nakes you smile :)
The twin boys I watch (almost 3) love this thing! They sit & play with it for an hour @ a time. The balls do fall off the track sometimes but it's no big deal they just put them back on (99% of the time it is the green ball that has a flat end that falls off, the other two included balls seem to do just fine). It's an expensive toy but we love it & it's nice to hear the wooden rolling noises & bell tinkle rather than sirens or other annoying noises. Glad i bought it!
I bought this doll for my 18 month old daughter for Christmas and she hasn't slept without it since! The clothes are colorful and much more durable than some other doll clothes she's received as gifts. Lotta has beans in her bum so that she can sit upright and has oodles of soft chenille hair that can actually be combed and put in a pony-tail. The doll is made of a nice durable canvas-type cloth and I continue to be impressed with its quality, especially with the tough love it gets from my toddler.
I puchased this book after reading that it was one of Parenting magazine's top 25 toys of the year.When I got the book, I was very disappointed.There are only 4 sides, two big pages, and they flip either way, which is cool, but that's all there is.None of the animals or things move, and it's not that great.I will be giving it to my son for his birthday next week, and I hope he likes it more than I did!
